Waiting

I waited for you

through the dew on the leaves

through moss all over

through the birds flying home

to their marsh

to their soft wet soil

I waited, and I saw

your shape

or your essence-

I caught a whiff of it

in the night garden

you weren't there, though you always were

so I've waited without patience

the small birds have chirped

from far, far away

the old friends have rung

the sky clouded and emptied out

unto me. Unto me,

and the humongous trees

who have waited, just like me-

and yet,

with each croaking cricket

and soaring bird

with each waking memory of family and ease

you have hidden yourself

not far like the birds

but shyly

like the snake.

So I wait;

through gods and thunders

through beauty and yearning I wait for poison.

- samjam (3/11/23) I wrote this sitting in the college basketball court bleachers, acutely aware of the presence of snakes. somewhere. beyond where i was. it had rained. it was beautiful. and i wrote this in my head, and then replicated it in my phone as i always do. this is my diary now. been in a rut for a while, hope i get out of it soon. manifesting it here.

Toodles!
