Cutout Poem

-samjam (31/01/26) College culturals had an event called Cutout Poetry. Basically, they give you a reasonable number of newspaper pages. You cut out words to stick and make a poem. No particular theme. You're given an hour's time. This is what I made. Pretty happy with it. I genuinely think limits rather than absolute freedom prompts greater creativity. Only get out of the box if there's a box, no? Anyhow, I got the runners up award for this event!!! There were around 17-18 participants, and honestly i feel so happy about the whole thing. first, to have had the opportunity to sit w fellow poetry enjoyers and do this cute activity. second, to be recognised, albeit in a small way, in the domain of my love for poetry is SO SO SO gratifying. validating. maybe i sound silly, but it really does mean so much to me. anyway, i was told "this makes no sense to me, so surely it must be a good poem" by few different people. which is a) heartbreaking logic, art that is out of reach or, which is incoherent - DOES NOT inherently become "good" or superior. my whole blog is based on the idea that feeling is first, comprehension is 137492th (whatever is last!) in poetry. b) not a compliment at all, atleast not to me. anyway, i know they mean well and intend to appreciate me. im choosing to focus on that. Anyhow thats that thanks for sticking around, and fuelling my love towards this art form sincerely, samjam (4 feb 26, 1:54 am)
