Must Be!

of ennui and envy,
is it true, this foulness in me
indeed oh god it must be
i'm doomed and darn! that's all it can mean
run from me, the self is no more trusty;
frankly ole mind's a little dusty
is this what they call ugly?
oh it must be, it must be
lord, you overthinker!
gah, you've lost your blinkers
we're fine, nae- quite alright, my geezer
your nerves are merely too eager
since, beauty lies with beholders
some beholders just tend to be colder
breathe in, breathe out
this fuss can be done without
but what of personality
what of morale?!
remember years ago
when I was frankly just dismal
oh such embarrassment, abysmal-
now,
you'll spiral and I spin
like dancers without cause
cat steps on hot bricks and,
the saviour falls on moss
"oh it must be, it must be"
it could be, but it's not
we're fine, my boy, do trust
we're all just whistling in the dark.

Elaboration:
I tried to word the poem in a very light-hearted and jolly sounding way.... when it's actually about panicking about something extremely trivial like 'being boring' or a sour moment from millennia back. Must Be referring to the conclusions jumped to. The poem is structured this certain way to give a sense of the two contrasting voices in one's head- the nervous gal and the more practical "calm-down-it-doesn't-matter" one. What I find humorous is that neither one of them are necessarily "right" (in the sense of objectiveness...both of them are just my mind- braincells frantically bouncing around like jelly beans)
Literary analysis:
Oooh I also used a bunch of idioms I read recently, just to add to the whole jolly factor.
-beauty lies with beholders
(alluding to fear of being perceived ugly) -cat steps on hot bricks
(cat being the nervous one, saviour being the other voice)
-whistling in the dark
(to make a show of bravery, when one is actually not)
